Hearts of Safe Harbor
For a number of years now parishioners from St. Paul’s have helped to
start, finance, and prayerfully support this cause in Uganda, Africa. Originally, it was an effort
to help educate, protect, and support Ugandan children, who had been kidnapped or orphaned because
of the civil war in Uganda. Many of these children were forced to fight with rebel armies against
the government. In cooperation with the archbishop of Gulu, Uganda, St. Paul’s was able to initiate
and continues to support to this day an effort to build a safe house for these children who are
rescued and able to escape the hands of their captors. Recently, the original plan has been changed
to sponsor an educational facility that would serve the children of this area, in that, some of
the war effort has ceased and children are no longer being kidnapped. The parish continues to
financially, and prayerfully support this cause. Parishioners from St. Paul’s have traveled twice
to Gulu. Volunteers to help in this regard are always welcome.
