Bereavement When someone from the parish dies, the whole parish is affected. Once the funeral is over, families and loved ones are often left on their own to mourn. Members of this committee correspond with the deceased’s family by writing cards to them periodically throughout the next year on dates that have been proven to be important. Many find this ministry something they can comfortably do since it simply, yet most importantly, requires the writing of a note or card. The parish supplies cards, and the Bereavement Committee member assigned to a family is asked, if possible, to make a visit at the funeral home. As part of our annual All Souls Day Commemoration, a Mass of Remembrance will be said for those who died within the year. The families of those who died will be invited to participate in this mass in a special way. |
