Church Environment
Our new church was completed on May 16, 1998 and dedicated on October 10 of
that same year. The holy space in which we worship and the setting we find as we come to church,
are the result of the efforts of many creative and generous people. The Liturgy Planning Committee
is responsible for ideas and decisions as to what kinds of decorations and atmosphere is to be
created. There are those who actually see to it that our environment for worship is prepared for
and taken care of. St. Paul’s is one of the few Catholic parishes that has a formal outdoor area
for worship. This outdoor worship space, dedicated to St. Francis of Assisi, is just beyond the
parish pavilion, this side of the lake. Outdoor mass is offered on Saturday evenings at 5pm during
the months when weather permits (usually June through August). With special planning, weddings can
take place there. We concur with the Diocesan policy prohibiting outdoor weddings in parks, gardens,
etc. We do not consider our outdoor area a park or a garden. It is revered as holy ground and thus
upon this ground, our worship is fitting and vows become sacred. The environment at St. Paul’s is most
striking. For this, we can all be proud!
